More Speedyisms
We’ve been talking a lot about the difference between truth and lies, “on purpose” and “accident” and I think Speedy is starting to get it. Maybe.
Eating a snowcone in the car…
Speedy: Uh oh, mommy, I spilled
Me: that’s okay, Speedy. Accidents happen.
Speedy: (quiet, with a pondering look on his face) Mommy? Does purposes happen, too?
On the potty training front, he is definitely able to tell when he needs to poop. This morning, he went to the playroom and hid around the corner. When I started walking that way, he said, “no mommy. stay away. Speedy is pooping.”
I think i’m going to try some reverse psychology. I’m going to take his potty chair away and put him back in diapers and tell him that I don’t think he is quite big enough to learn to use the potty yet. When he starts asking, I’m going to say no for a few days and then see if we can try it again.
Outsmarting a toddler? Never gonna happen.

I am so there with you. Tyler will go and crouch behind whatever major furniture he can find and scream, “NOT YET!!! NOT YET!!!” That’s the sure-fire sign there is pooping going on.
Did you have Speedy in pull ups? We used those with my older child for one week before I stopped because they were driving me batty - for 6 days he did brilliantly, then the 7th it was like a lightbulb went off and he thought, aha! Like a diaper! And we went through about 7 of them that day. After that, it was big boy underwear (except at nap and bed).
With Tyler, I’m sure it will be a whole new ball game. The kid plays totally by his own rules. And I don’t know what they are!

Oh my gosh!! I just read your CRAP entry!!! Yikes!!! I have no advice - sorry!! With my son, nothing worked that everyone said would!! I tried EVERYTHING that everyone suggested and none of it worked!!! Sorry!!

Yikes, I can smell the frustration. Er, wait…maybe that’s the poop.
You’ll get there, and then you won’t remember even having any trouble! Until it’s Princess’ turn, that is…
