My Ebenezer

Foster Care Adoption and Life after adoption

About Us

  • Me:

I am a woman after God’s own heart – sometimes taking the scenic route. I work part time but am mostly a stay at home mom and it is the best and worst job I’ve ever had. I write because it feels good and I enjoy telling stories. What I have to say is real and important and the world needs to know what I’m thinking. (at least that’s how it plays it out in my head :) )

I also volunteer with Child Advocates and serve as a Court Appointed Advocate for children in foster care. Working only one case at a time, I interview everyone from alleged abusers to teachers to potential alternative caregivers. I gather my findings and file my recommendations with court about what is in the best interest of the child(ren) involved.

  • Daddy:

The first person I want to call when something incredible happens or my world comes crashing down. He is my best friend and husband of 9 years. I didn’t know I could love him more until I saw him interacting with our children and until I heard him praying with and singing to them. He is a Godly man who believes in doing “the right thing” even when no one is looking.

  • Carter:

Even writing his name brings a smile to face. He is five years old and talks more than anyone I’ve ever met. He’s smart and funny and adores his sister…..and sometimes his brother. Carter came home to us on February 5, 2006, as our foster son and we finalized his adoption on February 27, 2007. Seeing him smile rains sunshine on the cloudiest of days.

  • Gracey:

She is such a little stinker! Gracey is almost 4 and is quite a little drama queen. Her favorite thing in the world is to play outside with various bugs/frogs/snails etc…! She loves her mommy and wants to do everything just like her. Gracey is Carter’s full sister and we brought her home from the hospital on February 10, 2006, weighing in at just over 5lbs when she was just two weeks old.

  • Mathew:

Mathew is the most recent addition to the Ebenezer household. We knew about him very early in his birthmother’s pregnancy and we prayed continuously for his safe arrival. He was born on June 13, 2008 and came home to us on June 19. We finalized his adoption in April 2009, but he was always our son. He is Carter and Gracey’s full sibling.

  • Ava and Ethan:

Ethan is an infant and Ava is his 5 year old sister. They are the foster children (siblings) I am currently advocating for and I’ll write about their story as it unfolds.

Hey, I just found your blog and I believe you are in Florida near us. What agency did you go through to foster and adopt your children? We are currently in the process ourselves. May God bless you and keep you!
