Puking Pineapples

We ate at Chili’s tonight and Speedy and Princess shared some pineapples. Speedy wasn’t hungry and did not touch his cheeseburger, but he downed half a bowl of pineapples. Princess ate most of a corn dog and the other half of the pineapples.

Pineapples and Dr. Pepper puke is not pretty. Corn dog puke is not pretty either.

Husbands who handle puke clean up are very pretty.

Sweet little girls who puke and then say, “dat’s yucky” are very cute.

Stepping in puke is not cute.

Little boys managing to grab the “can” and get most of the puke in it are wonderful.

Smelling pineapple puke…not so wonderful.

Praying puke fest 08 is over.

Daddy’s Wife

Overheard in our house this morning:

Princess: I wet. I wet! I WET! Change diaper, pease?
Me: Sit down and finish your breakfast, we’ll change you when you’re done.
Princess: AHHHH! Change me.
Me: If you don’t like having a wet diaper you should consider peeing in the potty
Princess: aaaah! Have poo poo
Me: no, you just have pee pee.
Princess: aaahhhh! change diaper, pease?

Now seriously, if she doesnt like the wet diaper, can’t just pee in the potty.

Speedy: Wife! Hey, Wife! Hey, Daddy’s Wife!
Me: (giggling) yes?
Speedy: Can you help me fix this?
Me: yes
Speedy: Oh thank you daddy’s wife

Whew!

Well, things have settled down and we are now only dealing with the whole fraud thing. Fun times.

I should have mentioned in the last post that Princess is perfectly fine. Probably just had a virus. Basically, the hours we spent at the hospital were for nothing. Like I said, fun times.

Slip n Slide

I forgot to post a week or two ago about the slip n slide. Did you have one of these as a kid? I remember we had a long, yellow one that provided hours of entertainment. I also remembe that it was often difficult to really get a good slide going - we even tried bubbles to make it slicker. At the end of last summer, I bought Speedy a Spiderman slip n slide on clearance. I don’t think we’ve ever had so much fun on $3.

I put it out for him and he couldn’t quite get the hang of it. So i said, “step back, honey. Let momma show you how it’s done.” Now, I am not a small woman. I could tell you I am “big boned” but we all know that is just a synonym for big and fat. I’m okay with that description as I have mirrors in my house and know exactly what I look like. And, by the way, not many women can pull of gorgeous and fat the way I can. ha ha ha :D

Anyway, there aren’t many up sides of being big, but I found one on the slip n slide. As I ran towards the “red carpet” in my backyard and dove onto the slick surface, I flew across the slide like superman. I even ate a little grass at the end. It was so much fun, I had to do it a few more times. I pray none of my neighbors were looking over the fence, but if they videoed it, you can bet they’ll win big money. The surface area and weight give you a lot more momentum on the slippery surface.

My knees hurt like heck the next day, but it was lot of fun.

Who says skinny girls have all the fun?

Boring Update

It’s just that I really have nothing much to say. I don’t want to bore you with the details of life, but I hate not updating, either. Why? Because I’m just psycho like that.

Soooooo. We’re getting a new AC. Woo hoo. What a thrilling way to spend your hard earned money. On a flippin’ air conditioner. I asked the guy if he had one in pink. He and daddy both said no at the same time. It was rather funny.

So, here’s what the kids ar up to these days:

Speedy:

makes his bed almost daily
fixes his own cup of water
walks through the parking lot without holding my hand
gets me diet cokes from the fridge! :D
talks to me about his day (when he feels like it)
likes to pretend he is Batman or spiderman and will give those answers when a stranger asks his name
loves to be naked
constantly explains to me who is allowed to touch his privates and who is not (guess maybe we’ve drilled that a little toooo much)

Princess:

Sits in a big girl chair at home and at restaurants
drinks from a regular cup at the table
hits mommy and Speedy with toys just because she thinks she can
goes to time out on command and stays there until she is told to get up
yells “ta ta’s” when we walk through the bra section at the store
counts to 10 normally and goes up to twenty skipping a few
sings the ABC song
sings Jesus Loves Me
sings Happy Birthday at random and then claps when it is over

Catepillars and butterflies

We were lucky enough to bring a catepillar home from our vacation in the country. Speedy thought it was the coolest thing ever to let that little creepy crawly move all over his hand and arm. EEEEK! We put it in a jar and I grabbed a few leaves from the area where it was. I really expected it to die, as many earthquakes as it went through on the way home and all. Last night we thought it was dead but then noticed what looked to be a cocoon starting to form. This morning, it was fully encased in its cocoon.

Isn’t that cool? I know Speedy is excited but I am too! I hope it makes it to a butterfly, how cool would that be? I googled it and I think it will take anywhere from 9 - 14 days so we’re keeping an eye on it. I’m thinking of all kinds of cool analogies and lessons I can teach Speedy from watching it emerge as a butterfly.

My luck, all the excitement will take place in the middle of the night. :(

Spring Cleaning and Baby Update

It’s always one thing or another around here. We are getting our backyard ready for summer which includes the purchase of a GINORMOUS swing set.

As I speak, I have kid in the backyard hauling mulch from the driveway to the play area. With Speedy being such a climber, we figured he might need a little extra cushion when he hits the ground from this thing. We’ve also been dealing with the money draining hole in our backyard, also known as the swimming pool. I really think the reason the people before us moved is because of that darn thing. I love having a pool in the summer but we have huge trees all around it and that makes clean up a real…. well, you know.

Spring and Fall are MISERABLE where the pool is concerned. We drained it this past weekend and powerwashed it and now it is starting to look almost swimmable again. Whew. Since we have the power washer, I’m also powerwashing all the cement around the pool and the patio. It is absolutely amazing how nasty and dirty the cement is - but you don’t realize it until you start powerwashing. It’s addictive. I begged daddyo to let me bring it inside and clean our bathtubs with it but he seems to think the tile might get knocked off or something. ha ha ha

Here’s what we have left to get our certification renewed:

- one more class next week
- gas inspection (next week)
- fire inspection (next week)
- fingerprinted (maybe the week after)
- homestufy updated (April)

Once all that is done, we are all set and ready for baby to arrive. Here’s where it gets a little tricky. I was talking to our case worker yesterday and there are two main concerns:

1- that CPS is notified so they can take custody (we’re comfortable this will happen because birthparents will more than likely call GrannyJ when baby is born)

2 - CPS has to get it right. They have to check the files for other kids in custody so they will know to contact us. Baby could easily be placed into a different foster home.

So keep those prayers coming!

Boring update

Work has been really busy lately. I’m doing a lot more consulting and I like that I get to “play dress up” more often. That’s what it feels like, though I’m not really dressing up. Because I do everything online, I’m actually working in my jammies most of the time. But it’s nice to contribute to a company other than toysrus. ha ha You know what I mean. It’s just nice to get to wear my business hat and get my brain stimulated.

It’s been so busy lately that I feel like I’m scheduling mommy time around work time and that’s the part I don’t like so much. I want to be a stay at home mom and I want to be the one to parent my kids….. but I also want to work. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to do both. Looks like I need to get back on a more regimented schedule with the kids. Maybe if we have a little more structured time it would be easier for all of us when I schedule in some work time. Is it possible to work at home when you have a 2 year old and a 4 year old? :D

Speaking of work, I’m taking the kids to get pictures taken tomorrow. God help us. Princess will get her 2 year photos, Speedy his 4 year and I’m hoping to get one or two with both of them. Who knows, maybe mommy will even jump in for a shot or two.

So, remember my schedule from this week and how crazy it looked? Friday got a little less crazy because we are no longer having extra kids - but I’m disappointed about that. I was looking forward to having a little sleep over with extra little ones. Speaking of, my dear friend is having a hysterectomy (spelling???) tomorrow so keep her in your prayers, please.

Happy Heart Day

Daddyo came home tonight with roses for me and also a rose for Princess. He has decided that every year he will leave a rose for her on the bathroom counter so she’ll see it when she gets up to get ready for school. When i reminded him that she doesn’t go to the bathroom to get ready yet and perhaps it would be good to put it on her dresser for the first few years, he said no. He is putting on the bathroom counter so that he can tell her when she is older that he left a rose for her in that same place every year since she was 2 years old.

He got Speedy a camo shirt. :D

I am so thankful my kids have such a wonderfu daddy.
