Pee Protest

Posted: June 22, 2008 at 12:42 pm

Lots of stuff to write about and catch up on but no time. I can’t seem to put this sweet boy down for very long and when he is down I am spending time with Carter and Gracey.

In the meantime, as much as she loves her little brother, I think Gracey has started to see the bigger picture. Last night, she took her diaper off and peed in her bed. I think it was a show of protest.

Daddy’s Wife

Posted: June 6, 2008 at 1:26 pm

Overheard in our house this morning:

Gracey: I wet. I wet! I WET! Change diaper, pease?
Me: Sit down and finish your breakfast, we’ll change you when you’re done.
Gracey: AHHHH! Change me.
Me: If you don’t like having a wet diaper you should consider peeing in the potty
Gracey: aaaah! Have poo poo
Me: no, you just have pee pee.
Gracey: aaahhhh! change diaper, pease?

Now seriously, if she doesnt like the wet diaper, can’t just pee in the potty.

Carter: Wife! Hey, Wife! Hey, Daddy’s Wife!
Me: (giggling) yes?
Carter: Can you help me fix this?
Me: yes
Carter: Oh thank you daddy’s wife

Boring Update

Posted: May 2, 2008 at 4:40 am

It’s just that I really have nothing much to say. I don’t want to bore you with the details of life, but I hate not updating, either. Why? Because I’m just psycho like that.

Soooooo. We’re getting a new AC. Woo hoo. What a thrilling way to spend your hard earned money. On a flippin’ air conditioner. I asked the guy if he had one in pink. He and daddy both said no at the same time. It was rather funny.

So, here’s what the kids ar up to these days:

Carter:

makes his bed almost daily
fixes his own cup of water
walks through the parking lot without holding my hand
gets me diet cokes from the fridge! :D
talks to me about his day (when he feels like it)
likes to pretend he is Batman or spiderman and will give those answers when a stranger asks his name
loves to be naked
constantly explains to me who is allowed to touch his privates and who is not (guess maybe we’ve drilled that a little toooo much)

Gracey:

Sits in a big girl chair at home and at restaurants
drinks from a regular cup at the table
hits mommy and Carter with toys just because she thinks she can
goes to time out on command and stays there until she is told to get up
yells “ta ta’s” when we walk through the bra section at the store
counts to 10 normally and goes up to twenty skipping a few
sings the ABC song
sings Jesus Loves Me
sings Happy Birthday at random and then claps when it is over

No Fear

Posted: March 28, 2008 at 3:45 am

Have I ever mentioned that Carter has absolutely NO FEAR? None. I took him and cousin Wes to one of those jumpy places today and they had a blast. But climbing and sliding the usual way was not what they had in mind – no, they wanted to be super heroes. All it took was for Carter to see Wes make one jump and then it was all over. Of course, Wes is two feet taller than Carter and could have leaned over and reached the top of the part he was jumping to. Carter literally flew through the air. See what I mean:

Today was also swingset day. We bought a secondhand ginormous castle fortress swingset and it was delivered and set up today. When we started looking at swingsets, we swore we wouldn’t go overboard. What do you think?

Nevermind, don’t tell me. Just look at these faces and tell me it wasn’t worth it:

They are going to play on it for a long time to come.

We have been unbelievably busy these past few weeks. Getting the backyard ready, finishing Foster Care classes, getting home inspections, repairing gas pipes so we can pass said inspections…..cleaning backyard for summer and Carter’s fourth birthday party. That’s coming up this Saturday. Can you believe my guy is going to be four?

We are alive

Not much in the way of updates lately. I’ve been slammed with work and trying to balance work and kids and babysitters etc…

Changes are abroad in the Ebenezer family. Is that really a word that fits there? Abroad? What am I thinking? My mind doesn’t seem to function on the same level it once did. I used to be pretty smart. Downright intelligent. Something happened.

Carter cut his hair with scissors at school yesterday. He’d just had a haircut so it isn’t really THAT noticable. Until you get closer. And see the bald spots on his head. He did that yesterday and school pictures are today. His wonderful teacher was afraid I’d be upset but I think it is hysterical. I’m just so grateful it was HIS OWN hair he cut and not someone else’s. It was just a matter of time.

Gracey is now sleeping in a toddler bed. Which I hate. She does okay with it but loves her newfound freedom of getting out of bed at 3am to come in and say Hi to mom and dad. Her teacher gave me a brilliant idea of putting up a baby gate in her doorway. Wish that had occurred to me several nights ago. See the remark about being smart above.

Tamara asks what we’re doing to get prepared for baby #3. Nothing really. Except getting Gracey out of her baby bed. We don’t know what else to do. Can’t really plan on a room since we don’t know the sex. We have a bassinet and can’t really remember anything else we absolutely have to have the first few weeks other than diapers and formula.

I think one reason it is hard to plan for is that I’m just so not sure it is going to happen. With CPS, anything is possible. I’m just afraid they are going to screw up and place the baby with another family.

Gracey Tales

Posted: February 25, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Gracey sure is helpful. Before I can explain what makes her so helpful, you need a little background information:

Daddyo thinks it is hilarious to have Carter or Gracey “pull his finger”. Gracey has recently started to “get it” and thinks it is hysterical.

Gracey also says “poo poo” when she hears someone fart or she’ll tell you she has poo poo when she farts.

Finally, she has recently become incredibly curious about what goes on when mommy is on the potty. She likes to get up close and personal so she can check things out. (good on the potty training front, not so good on the privacy front)

I’m sure your are all very intrigued to see where this is going.

So this morning, I was on the potty taking care of some business and she is doing her usual “ooohs” and “aaahhhhs” as she gets as close as humanly possible to watch my bodily functions. All of the sudden, she starts pulling on my finger saying, “I help you….I help you….I help you….!!!” It took me a sec to realize what she was doing and then I just lost it. My littler helper.

Another Gracey tale:

In the store this morning, she dropped her “boo” (a little lovey) on the floor so i picked it up and told her to be careful not to drop it. She gave it a big hug and said, “I so sowweee, Boo!”

Just Yuck

Posted: March 31, 2006 at 11:54 am

Carter is feeling better, as I write he is in his bed for "naptime" – but he is taking a very LOUD nap. The more tired he is, the louder he talks to keep himself awake. I'm hoping he's going to crash here before long, he never did sleep yesterday. :(

He did great at the doctor's yesterday and only cried when he had to have a strep test. (it was negative) He got some antibiotics and a prescription for the runny nose and sore throat. The pharmacist told me that one of the prescriptions might make him very sleepy and I said, "WOO HOO!" :D But then he said, "Wait, you didn't let me finish. It could also make him not sleep good at all – since you celebrated, I can tell you which way this going for you," as he gave me an evil grin. He was right. If the meds make most kid sleepy, it makes Carter speedier.

Last night, I put him to bed at 6pm since he didn't have his nap and was obviously very tired. (his normal bedtime is 7pm) I rocked him to sleep but he woke up around 8:30 and wasn't crying, but was kinda fussing and moaning some. I felt so bad for him. I finally got him out of bed and let him sit with us in the den. He was so tired he could hardly walk straight and he kept scratching his throat. He kept asking for what sounded like "pockle" but I couldn't figure out what he wanted. FINALLY, I got it. He was saying popsicle. What would most moms do at 9pm when their two year old is supposed to be sleeping? Frankly, I don't care what most would do. I gave my sweet boy a popsicle. :D His throat was hurting and it was fruit flavored…..

But that's okay, because for lunch today I gave him fruit again. A strawberry shake. He's just not eating very well with his throat hurting so I figure ice cream is as good as it gets. He kept taking a sip and then saying, "ummmmeeeeee".

On another note, Gracey had to get FIVE FRIGGIN' shots today. :( She got so mad she started turning red and finally hit a shade of purple before we could get her to breathe again. Poor little princess. I just fed her and she is still pretty unhappy but now she's asleep and hopefully she'll stay that way for a while.

Tomorrow is Carter's birthday party so I really hope he sleeps well tonight and is feeling better tomorrow. We got him an Elmo pinata (sp?) and it is HUGE. I think the all the kids will enjoy beating it, i just hope Carter doesn't get upset when we start abusing Elmo.

Sleeping in…

Posted: March 19, 2006 at 9:07 pm

Gracey did wonderfully in her nusery last night. She slept from 11pm until 5am and I’m hoping that tonight she’ll stretch that even a little more! SPeedy has also adjusted to his new room with no problems. I thought it might take him a while to remember that was his room, but he seems to know right where to go for bed time.

Yesterday, I told Carter we were going to the park. (there is one just about 4 blocks from our house) We went outside and when I tried to put him in the car, he got upset. I explained that we were going to the park but he still protested. Finally, as I was strapping him in, I said, “Carter, we are to the park….you know, to slide and swing and climb…..it will take us a couple of minutes to get there. Remember? We went before…we walked last time but mommy is lazy so we’re driving today.” And he responded with, “yeah”. I think he was saying “yeah” to the “mommy is lazy” part. ha ha ha
