Just t thought I’d let you know that I came to your blog as a result of the article you did in the Nov/Dec Adoptive Families magazine. I’m starting a new program at the agency where I work, Adoption Alliance, that helps families adopt from foster care. We have an existing program for kids who are already legally free and my new program is focused on kids who are not yet legally free. It’s helpful for me to read the experiences of people who have adopted from the foster care system and contrast the experience of adopting a legally free child versus taking in and hoping to adopt a child whose parental rights haven’t been terminated yet. By contrasting the two experiences, I can get a better understanding of what kinds of additional emotional hurdles people who take the risk on kids who aren’t legally free. Thanks again for sharing your story.

You have such a beautiful family..I was reading “Adoptive Families” and came across your blog. I also am waiting to foster adopt. I have also experienced years of infertility..Just by reading some of your blogs you have given me such strength and hope..The waiting is really hard for me I have had two almost placements. Keep blogging !! Your stories are heartfelt and warm and very close to the heart.Thank you for sharing your life and your journey.

Hi,
I found your blog through your article in Adoptive Families magazine. I am an adoptive mom through domestic adoption of a newborn through an agency. If God leads my husband and I to adopt again we are thinking of going through the foster care system…but were curious as to the chances of getting an infant.

I’m excited to continue to read your story.

I’d love to know a statistic on that so I can prepare my husband. He really wants an infant but we’re sure of the path to add to our family and I don’t feel they go together. He’ll adjust though.

No matter how many times I hear or read your story, it amazes me every time. And hearing it in your expertly crafted words makes it even better.

By the way–it wouldn’t let me comment on your post about all the running you’ve been doing. I only wish one of two things: 1) you had done this a few years ago when I still lived there, or 2) I still lived there!

Last line made me smile.

I was just listening to a session on Foster Parenting with a Mission from a conference I just attended. They shared how you never know if you’ll have that child for 3 hours or a year. But they said you jump right in loving them and doing what you would assuming they’ll be there forever.
Sign them up for soccer and buy the cleats. Even if they only play in one game before moving on you allowed them to play in that game and it just might be the only game they ever play in. It is about the kids.

Great article. Will it be in this issue coming? I’m going to mention it to my husband so he can read your story. Always nice to give him examples of real people I know, even if it is just via the web.
